Awesome painting.
It's entitled "Dante and Virgil in Hell" and, according to the superstitious commenters on the Roman Catholic Blog it depicts:
And UFOs are real, so remember to brush your teeth, kids....Dante and Virgil in the presence of the sodomites in hell. It shows the predatory nature of the sin of Sodom, without the eroticism - it is more akin to vampirism - sucking the life out of the soul - visciously.
Anyway, it's just a wickedly cool pic -- hot too, despite what the commentator thinks -- I'll have to find some use for it in a story or film one day.

I'm not quite clear on whether you're calling the commentators superstitious due to a description of the painting (which doesn't really make sense to do, as it's just explaining which part of a work of fiction the painting is depicting,) or for other reasons.

Saying that the picture shows "Dante and Virgil in the presence of sodomities in hell" is descriptive.
Saying that it shows the "...predatory nature of the sin of Sodom, without the eroticism - it is more akin to vampirism - sucking the life out of the soul - viciously" is an opinion formed by a superstition.
"Sodomy" is no more or less erotic or more or less vampiric than "non-sodomy" is. Definitions of sodomy may vary...
