...but in a good way.

She got me an Xbox 360 as a late graduation and birthday gift.

Gears of War? Almost as much fun as Halo.

Don't fret though. I have still been working on the film; playing with it, really. I discovered that what worked perfectly on the page is a little too confusing on the screen. That happens. Different mediums. Different needs. Experience helps to notice such problems at the design (script) stage, but I'm still a little new at this.

I've had to now try different ways of getting that narrative idea across. With a script you find a word to do it or a direction that, in theory, should make it real. As the editor, I have to take what the writer suggested and find a real world way to make it happen. That entails "goofing off" for long stretches, while the BackBrain plays Rubic's Cube with possible idea combinations, trying to chance upon the possible solutions to the problem at hand.

And there’s no better way to goof off than killing the Locust Hordes in Gears of War..

At least that's what I tell myself.
