Clearing Up
April 29, 2006
You might have read an e-mail over the last few weeks purporting to show the hostile, anti-American comments numerous Latino leaders have said. You know, those "we're breeding so fast we're going to run you whites outta here" and "take back the land for the native Mexicans" type claims? Well, Snopes did some digging, and it turns out that most of the quotes are out of context or truncated comments designed to sound as menacing as possible.
Go figure.
There are some doozies in there though -- comments made by starry-eyed folks who believed life was better under the Aztecs or the Mayans, so if we just got rid of say, the last 500 or 1000 years of history, everything would be perfect again in the South West. You know, the kind of comments the neer-do-well 43 year old living over his mother's garage with a strange, made up Vulcan name and delusions of greatness that carry him through his minimum wage job at the comic book store wiping smudge prints off the mylar bags of Archie vs. Barbie Issue 1 and Garfield meets The Predator One Shot might make?
Again, go figure.
Look, there are serious immigration and population issues that need to be addressed by the government and the electorate. It needs to be addressed though in a sane, non-sensationalistic manner. It's the only way we'll come up with any kind of solution that will actually make sense and won't, in fact, just be the source of massive new problems. Is that going to happen? Probably not.
Go figure.

If anything, Snopes confirms almost everything in that email. I don't see any context that changes any of the statements for the better.
As for the "They are sh*tting in their pants with fear", they couldn't find that because he said it in Spanish:
