Prejudice with my coffee...
May 18, 2004
As usual, for my morning amusement and slight ire-getting, I peruse the commentaries on the various blogs whose ideologies I find at best tiresome. On the indelible Mr. Shea's site, referenced here before and no doubt to be referenced here again because its just so damn easy to do, I find this diddy from a reader commenting on why discrimination against gays in marriage isn't really such:
Anyone can "feel" discriminated against. I'm sure polygamy, incestual, and man/animal relationships are next. To be honest, polygamy and incest are not nearly as bad as homosexual relationships because they at least respect the design of creation itself. They don't try to use orifices which are meant for other pooposes, whoops I mean purposes. The depth of thought and the height of humor amongst those of the Religiously Right never ceases to amaze me.
And now I think it's time for my morning constitutional.

I've had one of those visitors in the past. People who think they can post their supposedly humorous and insightful comments anytime. I agree it is a public domain and not to mention freedom of speech. But to make a profound statement with random stereotypes still makes me sick to this day. Needless to say, my so-called visitor was brutally rebuffed! I had Blogger take out his account for extreme racial derogatory remarks.

Yup Jody, those nut jobs who buzz around Shea's comment boxes are like the flies (said to be) buzzing around Satan. Cracked, they are.

It does though make for fun reading.

Agreed, Jody. I always think of their rantings and ravings as being the death rattle of their tired old worldview. They generally don't need rebuffing because of the absurdity of what they are ranting about.

It's interesting the other concepts put forth as fact by these people too. As Groove mentioned with his incicent, these people tend to be rascist (and I'll add often sexist) and as I mentioned in a recent post on my blog, they tend to cling to the view that logic and reason are irrelevant because "God is on their side"

Actually, what I've found is that they believe that their point of view actually is logical and reasonable. Because they can construct an argument that mentally appears sufficient, it therefore must be right, even though experientially it bears little resemblance to reality.

I suppose some feel that way, but when confronted with logic and reason they're quick to declare that there beliefs go beyond rationalization. I wrote that comment right after finishing a post on my own blog about a young lady I was debating "ex-gay ministries" with who proceeded to tell me that Truth had to be revealed, and could not be reached through rationalization.

Lonely and slightly confused Right Winger seeks intelligent but gentle Left Winger for meaningful discussion of todays issues. Show me the error of my ways, PLEASE.
