Excellent article at US News on how evolution really works, and why it matters more than ever (7/29/02)
Of course, it's the idea that human beings themselves are products of evolution that provokes most of the attacks on evolution. Such rejections leave most scientists mystified."The scientific narrative of the history of life is as exciting and imbued with mystery as any other telling of that story," says Knoll. The evidence against evolution amounts to little more than "I can't imagine it," Ewald adds. "That's not evidence. That's just giving up."

The best resource for evolution stuff, bar none is the talk.origins FAQ archive. It provided me not only with carbon steel-quality weaponry to fight fundies with, it also gave me deep insight into the simplicity of science and evolutionary theory. Back in the early 90s fundies would walk onto that newsgroup and walk off with their head in their hands. "All too easy..."
Apologies if you already knew about it, I haven't had time to go through yer archives yet.

Of course, the evidence *for* macro-evolution amounts to little more than "I can't imagine that God exists."
